Deep water monsters
The continental shelf edge represents the frontier of Cape Town fishing. Out here, 40+ nautical miles offshore, the sea floor drops away from a few hundred meters to over 1000m â this is where the true giants live.
Blue Marlin cruise these waters during summer, while Broadbill Swordfish lurk in the depths year-round. The deep water also holds exceptional populations of Bigeye Tuna â larger cousins of the Yellowfin â along with monster Yellowfin pushing 80kg or more.
Fishing the shelf is an expedition â long days, big swells, and the chance at truly exceptional fish. This is not for the faint-hearted, but for serious anglers seeking a lifetime trophy, there's nowhere else like it.
